This free virtual book club hosted by Conifer Historical Society features "Remembering Lucille: A Virginia Family’s Rise From Slavery And A Legend Forged A Mile High." The book depicts the rise of the African American middle class through the historical journey of Lucile Berkeley Buchanan (the first female African American graduate) and her family from slavery in northern Virginia to life in the American West.
