This presentation will focus on the anxieties associated with giving care, how these anxieties are processed in the brain, and how the stresses of giving care impact the psychological world of the caregiver.
The format will be a lecture and discussion, with audience participation welcomed.
Edward Harper, LCSW is a practicing clinical social worker in older adult and caregiver services and is a lecturing therapist in a hospital-based psychiatric care unit.
He has spent the last 18 years as a coordinator of a community focused and hospital based Senior Services program. The service focus is caregivers and issues of older adults.
He has been a personal family caregiver for most of the past 30 years.
It is the objective of this presentation to assist in the caregiver’s understanding of the emotions and moods that are created in the caregiver’s world.
Refreshments will be served, courtesy of a Thrivent Financial Action Team project.
