Description
On October 12 from 10 to 2 pm join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge for the free National Fossil Day celebration. Guides will be stationed at the world-famous track site and other fossil sites along the Dinosaur Ridge Trail. More scientists will represent Earth Science Week, International Archaeology Day and International Astronomy Day. Website www.bit.ly/dinoridge
Activities at the Visitor Center include sifting for microfossils, dinosaur track painting, the Allosaurus vertebrae boulder, a dinosaur dig for kids; check out the new Allosaurus skull, and model, Triceratops skull, and Utahraptor model free in the museum. Search for iron meteorites, tell time with a sundial, crush walnuts on a metate, and identify arrowheads and spear points. Participants include: Mr. Bones, Geocaching Colorado, Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory, Western Interior Paleontological Society (WIPS), National Park Service, Majestic View Nature Center, Colorado Groundwater Association, Roxborough State Park, Women in Mining, Legendary Ladies, Molly Brown House Museum, Audubon Center, Wildlife Experience, Butterfly Pavilion, and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
