Description
Author Carol Deckard of Edwards truly found her voice when she created Mountains of Inspiration, Reflections on Climbing Mountains. Carol’s wise, insightful words are melded with extraordinary visual images, graciously donated by renowned photographer John Fielder, in a delightful book that touches both heart and mind. The book immediately became a best-seller at the Bookworm in Edwards.
Carol herself was inspired by a Fielder book which caught her attention during a time of personal challenge. Fielder’s images captured the essence of her thoughts and emotions, motivating her to pen her own feelings and wisdom. She says that “…as we come to forks in the road at different life stages, we experience disappointment, sorrow and setbacks as well as victories of joy and celebrations”. . At each of these turning points, mountains emerge on the horizon and beacon us to climb them. Whether we go through these moments rejoicing or lamenting, we have a choice. We can turn back, do nothing, or we can move forward and upward. Defining moments have the potential to transform our lives – personally, professionally, spiritually. Timeless messages whisper. If we listen carefully, we will receive the wisdom to learn, to grow and the courage to press on.
Carol is generously offering 20% of the proceeds from book sales for the benefit of Roundup River Ranch, a provisional member of the Association of Hole in the Wall camps. The Association is the world’s largest family of medical specialty camps and was founded by actor Paul Newman more than two decades ago. Purchase of Carol’s book will enrich the lives of kids living with serious medical conditions. Located in Gypsum, the camp will open in July of 2011 and serve children from an 11-state region. As Ron Hall, co-author of the New York Times’ bestseller Same Kind of Different as Me states, “….this is a beautiful book of stunning photographs and profound wisdom The pages of Mountains of Inspiration will lift you from dark valleys to mountain peaks and bless you as you make the climb.
