MALT's Armchair Adventure: A Celebra...
Description
On Sunday, May 17, the Mountain Area Land Trust and the Conifer Historical Society and Museum will host an Armchair Adventure: A Celebration of Conifer's Roots, featuring native sons Hank Alderfer and Tom Hayden. Using historical photos, stories, and songs, Tom and Hank will engage you in the history of our mountain areas early settlers. Our rich local heritage will come to life with Hank's multimedia presentation and anecdotes of settlers and homesteads. Tom will blend tales and songs to accent the early days of loggers and ranchers that used to thrive in the area. The presentation will highlight homesteads from the Conifer area, as well as present-day photographs of preserved historical lands. A silent auction will feature items of historical interest. The event takes place 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 17 at the Twisted Pines Pavilion, Meadow Creek Bed & Breakfast Inn, 13438 U.S. Highway 285, Pine. Enjoy free parking and shuttles from Elk Creek Elementary School. Reservations are $10 general admission and $25 patrons. Patron ticket holders are invited to attend a special cocktail buffet at 4:30 p.m. to meet the presenters, and will receive free on-site parking. Reserve early: previous events sold out! Tickets at Mountain Area Land Trust, 303-679-0950 or www.savetheland.org.
