Description
Hiwan Homestead Museum is hosting a Christmas tea on Monday, December 13 at 11:30 A.M. Please join us for a relaxing lunchtime tea and program in the wonderfully decorated Museum. The Museum?s decoration theme for 2010 is ?O Tannenbaum;? the entire Museum will be filled with differently-themed Christmas trees. The decorations can be seen Tuesday, November 30 through Sunday, January 9, 2011.
The featured program for the tea will be John Steinle, Hiwan Homestead Museum Administrator, portraying Charles Dickens. Dickens? ?A Christmas Carol? was published shortly after the introduction of the Christmas tree to England, and around the time of the first Christmas cards, helping to rejuvenate interest in English Christmas traditions. Steinle?s portrayal will delve into those traditions, and how they changed with Prince Albert?s introduction of the Christmas tree.
A suggested donation for the tea is $15.00 for the general public; $12.00 for Jefferson County Historical Society Members; and $12.00 per person for groups of 4 or more. Registration is required; for registration or information call the Museum at 720-497-7650.
