Description
The Evergreen Park and Recreation District (EPRD) is holding a Kids Triathlon on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, to benefit its Special Needs program, immediately followed by the 2nd Annual Youth & Sports Expo, co-sponsored by EPRD and the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce.
Both events will be held at Buchanan Park Recreation Center, 32003 Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen, CO. MAP
Kids Triathlon
The Kids Triathlon is a great way for kids of all ages to be active and have fun, while helping the Special Needs Program. Distances and times vary by age group:
- Ages 5-6 - 9:00 a.m. (1 lap swim / 400 meter run / .5 mile bike)
- Ages 7-8 - 9:15 a.m. (2 lap swim / .5 mile run / 1 mile bike)
- Ages 9-10 - 9:30 a.m. (4 lap swim / 1 mile run / 2 mile bike)
- Ages 11-13 - 9:45 a.m. (4 lap swim / 1 mile run / 2 mile bike)
Participants are encouraged to arrive at least half an hour before their start time. The kids will swim in Buchanan Pool, run on the Pioneer Trail toward Elk Meadow or on the dirt road near Buchanan Trail, and ride their bikes out and back on the Buchanan Trail.

Youth and Sports Expo
The Youth and Sports Expo runs from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Buchanan Fields, rain or shine. During this fun-filled event for the entire family, mountain area vendors that provide services relating to youth and sports for all ages will demonstrate their offerings--including school programs, medical services, day care and babysitting, camps sports clubs, adult exercise, dance, music and more. A portion of proceeds from the Expo will benefit EPRD's Special Needs Program.
