Description
ECO’s Season Opener concert of their 36th season features Colorado Symphony Principal Oboist Peter Cooper in Ludwig August Lebrun’s beautiful and exciting Concerto #1 in D Minor. Handel’s spectacular Music for the Royal Fireworks opens the program and we will conclude with Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Haydn. The ECO’s Music Director William Hill has been acclaimed as a composer, soloist, artist, and conductor. Currently he is Principal Timpanist with the Colorado Symphony, Music Director of the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra, and teaches composition at the University of Denver. Mr. Hill’s Symphony #3 premiered in 2012 with the Colorado Symphony and was nominated for both the Pulitzer and Grawemeyer Awards in Music Composition. His tone poem The Raven (based on the E. A. Poe text) for large orchestra, chorus, and electronic chorus was commissioned and premiered in 2015 by the Colorado Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and received excellent audience and critical response. His Jazz and World Music groups are long time audience favorites and he has been the subject of feature articles in local and national publications. Recordings of Hill’s music have won high praise internationally. Tickets are available at the door or on ECO’s website www.evergreenchamberorch.org. Ticket prices: $20 adults, $17 seniors (60+), $5 students.
