Description
You're invited to celebrate The Day of the Dead with us this Thursday in downtown Evergreen.
Join us Oct. 31 from 4:30-6:30 pm at the new Clubhouse coworking office next to Revival Brews on Main Street. As others trick-or-treat during the Halloween Walk, I will be opening my doors for a different kind of tradition... Dia de Muertos.
Here's a brief description from Wikipedia about what the Day of the Dead is all about:
"The Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them."
Stop in on Thursday evening if you'd like to be a part of our celebration. I'll have a special altar set up in our back room where you can leave a photo, sign our altar cloth, or light a candle. There will also be kid-friendly activities, food, snacks and more!
Traditionally, people bring photos of the deceased for the altar, or favorite foods from loved ones who have transitioned. Bring something to leave behind if you'd like, or just come in and explore. The Day of the Dead is NOT a scary event. It's a joyful celebration of life and love. I hope to see you there!
