What better way to get centered than a walk in the woods, mountain-side yoga asana and meditation in a peaceful outdoor space? This retreat will begin with a gentle hike to a beautiful lookout near Echo Mountain. How often do you literally take time to stop and smell the roses? (Or in our case, the pine trees!) This retreat will help you gently return to awareness. The hustle and bustle of city life combined with the constant noise we live in can often times force us to live like we have blinders on. This constant stimulation can prevent us from seeing the whole picture and recognizing the endless beauty all around us. This retreat is designed to remind us, that no matter where we are, there are no ordinary moments. Our life is what we make of it.
AGENDA:
Arrive: 8:45am
Awareness and Beauty Hike: 9am-10:15am
Blissful Mountain-Side Yoga Asana: 10:30am-12pm
Lunch: 12-1pm
Purify & Rejuvenate Through Meditation (Level II)*: 1–3pm
Mindful & Peaceful Hike back to the Lodge: 3-4pm
*Taking the Level I: Introduction to Meditation workshop prior to taking the Level II class is not mandatory, but suggested.
After a basic introduction of the mantra based meditation practice, we will explore a "sutra" practice into meditation. A sutra practice, (sutra means "stitch" in Sanskrit), enables us to introduce a subtle intention into our practice. When we consciously think about what we want to manifest in our lives before or after our mantra or silent meditation practice, our intentions become very potent! A sutra practice is likened to planting seeds into the fertile ground of silence. Silence, after all, is where all material reality comes from in the first place. We will introduce several of the sutras of Patanjali from the ancient spiritual text, "Sutras of Pantanjali" as they are associated with the various Chakras or energy centers of the body. Specifically, we will introduce the use of the Patanjali sutras that are associated with the heart chakra.
