Description
Do you want to find ways to better identify when someone is struggling and how to get help? Become certified in Mental Health First Aid and learn skills, resources and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care! Mental Health First Aid is an interactive eight hour course that presents an overview of mental illness and substance use disorders in the U.S. and introduces participants to risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of their impact, and overviews common treatments. The curriculum includes access to a two hour self-paced course, and a six hour live, interactive session led by certified Mental Health First Aid Instructors. To attend a class you must: • Complete the self-paced course prior to the scheduled class • A valid email address in order to receive materials and complete pre-work This course is designed for anyone who would like to make their community a healthier, happier and safer place for all. Mental Health First Aid is for everyone—from neighbors, parents, friends, veterans, first responders, people in recovery, and community leaders. This course will be funded by the Alan Green Memorial Fund, and is focused on improving mental health in Gilpin County. Class registration closes on 12/7/2021, so sign up now!
