Description
DUANE REDFORD TO SPEAK AT AUGUST 21 EVERGREEN TROUT UNLIMITED CHAPTER MEETING
Duane Redford, fly fishing guide and author, first fly fished at the age of ten and fueled his passion in the mountain lakes and streams of Arizona. He has fished all over the Rocky Mountain West. As a retired school teacher and coach, Duane finds that his passions for fly fishing and teaching work collaboratively in taking clients to new heights.
His first book on fly fishing, The Fly Fisher’s Playbook, A Systematic Approach to Nymphing, was nearly five years in the making. Duane guides mostly for South Platte Outfitters on the South Platte River below Deckers. This stretch of river can be difficult to guide because of constantly changing conditions, such as water flow, clarity, diversity of insects and recreational pressure.
Because of his coaching, Duane has a knack for breaking things down systematically. He reads trout’s defenses and adjusts accordingly. "Once you are able to incorporate fundamental nymphing skills with a systematic approach, you will begin to really enjoy the sport," says Duane.
Duane will share his skills and knowledge with a presentation on the South Platte.
