Description
Heard of the Bradford Toll Road, that was once the most direct route to the mining camps in the mountains? Nope, it wasn't 285 but you can learn where it wound through our mountains, who built it and what it took to bring it to life. Life was hard, transportation was slow, and the word "terrible" didn't even begin to describe the toll road that took intrepid travelers from Bradford City to high country placer mines. The road started in a hopeful boom town called Bradford City (now Ken Caryl), wound through the Twin Forks area on 285 and went all the way to the high country. Considered an ‘air line’ path, the route was vertical and treacherous in parts and touted saving travelers 18 miles!
