Description
The Blue Star Salute is an event sponsored by the Evergreen American Legion Post and the Evergreen Elks Lodge to honor the families that have a member currently serving on active military duty. Local dignitaries are invited to speak and blue star banners are ceremoniously given to the families with a member serving. Gold star banners are presented to those that have lost their soldier in action in the Iraq and Afghanistan actions. Unfortunately we have seven such families in the area. They have reserved seating and have a special place in the hour and a half program. The public is invited and a free lunch is served by the Evergreen Elks Lodge after the ceremony on the Elks grass patio behind the lodge. We hope you will all come to this special event held on Armed Forces Day weekend.
