PAINTING REPRESENTATIONAL ABSTRACTS
Instructor: Melanie Warsinske
Representational abstracts depict some form of subject matter. These loosely painted abstracts may portray imagery of recognizable forms such as animals, landscapes, people, still-life, etc.; that evoke an impression of the subject matter verses a realistic image. Please come with an idea or image of what you would like to express abstractly in your painting.
This class is a great way to loosen up with your techniques and expand your imagination and create intrigue within your work. Some knowledge of use of paint is recommended. Please plan to experiment using a painting medium that you’re familiar with using. Melanie will work with each student individually and as a group. Plan to have FUN and find your ‘personal’ motivation and enjoy the process of creativity!
Refreshments: Please bring your own lunch and drink of choice; some snacks will be provided.
Supply list: Bring your own painting supplies including a minimum of two canvases, (no smaller than approx. 16”x20”). One will be your practice canvas and the other canvas is for your new painting. Also, please bring any paintings you are currently working on! Bring your own supplies, including paint, brushes, painting palette, palette knife, paper towels, rags, painting attire –and special mediums or textures that you typically work with. If you plan to apply texture, it’s recommended that you apply to your canvas prior to class so that you can start painting right away.
