SUMMARY:WEEKEND IN THE WEST at Evergreen Fine Art Gallery
DESCRIPTION:"Weekend in the West" 2012 at Evergreen Fine Art Gallery is an annual Evergreen event\, in partnership with Center for the Arts\, Evergreen\, featuring 60 well-known artists and sculptors from around the country showing off their best new work. Festivities will begin with a western-style art opening and sale on Friday\, August 24\, at 5:00 pm. A catalog\, compliments of Southwest Art magazine\, will be available at the show.\n\n    The next morning\, August 25\, from 9:00 to 10:30 there will be an artists' quick-draw in the gallery's sculpture garden\, followed by a champagne brunch (a ticketed event) and live auction of the quick-draw paintings. Locals and visitors always enjoy the opportunity to walk through the sculpture garden and watch all the artists at work. The live auction afterward is fast-paced and is a chance to bid on a smaller piece by a well-known artist. \n\n    A special part of this weekend\, which we have named "Masters of Today and Tomorrow\," features work from local elementary school students (the Masters of Tomorrow) which have been converted to china plates and displayed in a silent auction on our second floor.* Last year\, and again this year\, the professional artists themselves (The Masters of Today) have allowed us to reproduce some of their own work on plates. These plates are beautiful and durable\, and fast becoming collectors' items. This auction has become very popular and the bidding is brisk!
