DESCRIPTION:VICTORIAN BRASS BAND CONCERT AND LAWN PARTY \n\nTurn back the clock to those thrilling days of yesteryear on Wednesday\, July 21\, 2010 for an old-fashioned village brass band concert and lawn party! Hiwan Homestead Museum will host this festive occasion in historic Heritage Grove\, located at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive\, Evergreen CO 80439. Don your best Victorian finery or just come as you are - you will enjoy this FREE event sponsored by Arts Alive Evergreen\, Jefferson County Historical Society\, and Jefferson County Open Space. \n\nThe lawn party will begin at 5 P.M.\, and visitors will enjoy free tours of Hiwan Homestead Museum\, vintage children's games\, 1800s-style snacks and drinks\, andpresentations on local history. The local women's art group Artists With Altitude will be painting and displaying their artwork from 2:30 until the band concert at 7 P.M. \n\nThe brass band concert will begin at 7 P.M.\, featuring the High Line Silver Cornet Band playing in the Heritage Grove Pavilion. The Highline Silver Cornet Band is based in Denver\, Colorado\, specializing in music of the Brass Band Era. The music they play is the popular music of the time. Cornet bands\, from about 1865 to around 1915 were the equivalent of today's pop bands\, and they played the music that everyone wanted to hear. This event is part of Arts Alive Evergreen\, a community-wide showcase of the arts and culture in the Evergreen area. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic supper to enjoy! \nFor more information call the Museum at 720-497-7650. \n\nHiwan Homestead Museum is a 17-room log mansion constructed in the Rustic style of architecture. It is located in Evergreen at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive and is a Jefferson County Open Space facility operated through a partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Society. The Museum was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
