Traditionally\, a self-portrait is an image an artist makes using himself or herself as the subject\; it is typically created from a reflection in a mirror. Self-portraits can be more than just the literal depiction of an artist's likeness. It can also include images of how artists interpret themselves and the world around them or how they see themselves symbolically and spiritually. Join us for the opening reception on Friday\, January 9th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Come meet many of the artists\, listen to live music by Irma Wolf on piano\, and enjoy refreshments and good company.This exhibit will feature 33 artists from Colorado in a variety of media including painting\, ceramics\, photography\, glass\, and mixed media. Some are traditional self-portraits\, while others push the limits of the definition. Each piece will be accompanied by a statement from the artist about their self-portrait. Twelve of the artists' images were selected to be part of the Center for the Arts 2009 Calendar. The calendars are on sale now for $15 take home a piece of this outstanding exhibit!
