DESCRIPTION:Colorado Preservation\, Inc. is going on the road to present its documentary Our Living Legacy: Colorado's Historic Schools\, featuring six school rehabilitation projects from across the state. One of the central goals of the project is to demonstrate that existing historic schools can be rehabilitated to meet today's standards\, save capital costs\, provide economic efficiencies through their locations in walk-able neighborhoods\, and be a source of pride to the district\, students\, and community. Presentations will include an overview of historic schools in Colorado and discussion of why they should be saved.A 5-minute "teaser" version of the film can be viewed at:http://www.coloradopreservation.org/crsurvey/schools/hs_livinglegacy.html Colorado Preservation will offer a presentation of this documentary at the Hiwan Homestead Museum in Evergreen\, Colorado\, on Monday\, August 3\, at 7:00 P.M.  Hiwan Homestead Museum is located at 4208 S. Timbervale Dr.\, Evergreen\, Colorado 80439.  No admission will be charged and light refreshments will be served.  Reservations are required due to the space limitations.  Please call the Museum at 720-497-7650 for reservations and information. Hiwan Homestead Museum is a 17-room log mansion constructed in the Rustic style of architecture.  It is located in Evergreen at 4208 S. Timbervale Drive and is a Jefferson County Open Space facility operated through a partnership with the Jefferson County Historical Society.  The Museum was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.  For more information call the Museum at 720-497-7650.
