This is the true story of remarkable women who left the security & comfort of genteel Victorian society & journeyed into the rugged outback of the West in search of themselves & their world.  Local historians will be interested to note that research for this book uncovered the friendships they enjoyed with the Douglas family\, original owners of Hiwan\, who shared their interest in American Indian art\, music\, & cultural heritage.
