SUMMARY:"Broken" - Book Discussion with Author Ron Solomon
DESCRIPTION:Ron Solomon\, co-author of "BROKEN!" will kick off Congregation Beth Evergreen's 2016-2017 adult education series at 7 p.m. Tuesday\, Sept. 6 at the synagogue\, 2981 Bergen Peak Drive. The event is free and open to the public.\n\n\n\nSolomon will discuss and sign his book\, which is based on the first-hand experiences of a high-level military intelligence officer who became a whistleblower. This fictional thriller\, written with the consultation of Michael Kearns\, retired Air Force captain\, focuses on men and women caught in the crossfire of war\, terror\, drones\, post-traumatic stress and a for-profit surveillance state. The evening promises a lively discussion about the issues of privacy and torture.\n\n\n\n"Besides hoping to entertain people\, we want "BROKEN!" to cause outrage over some of the horrific things that we\, as a nation\, have done\," says Solomon. "We have engaged in torture. We have hurt and then abandoned our veterans. We have come perilously close to giving away our privacy and freedom. I hope that outrage will make us stronger."\n\n\n\nSolomon\, an Evergreen resident\, has created\, written\, and run successful companies and products spanning television sitcoms\, children's toys and games\, and information technology. His extensive background as a television executive producer\, head writer\, and show creator has helped to give his first novel\, "Broken!" an exciting\, cinematic feeling. \n\n\n\nThe book is available at Where The Books Go\, Hearthfire Books\, The Tattered Cover and by visiting www.brokennovel.com
